Industrial chemicals
CSBP is able to supply a range of bulk industrial chemicals to customers across Western Australia by leveraging off products we either use or produce in other operations.
Sulphuric Acid 98%
Globally, sulphuric acid is used in large quantities for the manufacture of fertilisers such as superphosphate, and fertiliser raw materials such as phosphoric acid.
In Western Australia there is also a large demand for sulphuric acid in mineral processing applications. Nickel and copper producers use sulphuric acid for leaching valuable metals from lateritic ores, and mineral sand producers use it in their synthetic rutile plants.
It is commonly used in batteries and for the manufacture of sulphate chemicals including sulphates of ammonia, copper, aluminium, magnesium, zinc and iron.
Fluorosilicic Acid
Fluorosilicic acid is a colourless, mildly fuming aqueous solution of hydrogen hexafluorosilicate (H2SiF6). CSBP's acid is 22% weight/weight.
Fluorosilicic acid is a co-product of CSBP's superphosphate manufacturing process.
Fluorosilicic acid is used to fluoridate drinking water.
Industrial Urea
CSBP does not manufacture urea but imports this product in large quantities for fertiliser applications. It is also used as an ingredient in the manufacture of melamine and certain types of resins.
