CSBP extends involvement with the WACA to support regional junior cricket

02/07/2010

The WACA is excited to announce CSBP has extended its involvement in WA cricket to become the naming rights sponsor of the Regional Junior Cricket Program for the next three years.

CSBP has been associated with the WACA since 2004 as naming rights partner of the Senior and Junior Country Week carnivals, and they have chosen to direct their focus and increase investment in junior cricket across regional Western Australia.

The invaluable partnership with CSBP will play a major role in assisting the WACA’s Regional Cricket Officers to deliver our great game to youngsters in country regions such as the Wheatbelt, South West, Mid West, Great Southern, Goldfields and Central Districts.

CSBP will also be supporting the “Country Day At The Cricket”, where 150 youngsters from around Western Australia have the opportunity to attend a day’s play during the Vodafone Ashes Test Match at the WACA Ground, along with the Regional Cricketers of the Year. One player is nominated by their respective CSBP Regional Cricket Officer and will be judged on criteria including attendance at training and displaying a positive attitude towards their team mates and coach.

Dual World Cup-winning all-rounder Brad Hogg, Australian one-day opener Shaun Marsh and Retravision Warriors batsman Luke Towers are recent examples of cricketers who have represented their State or country after hailing from regional areas.

WACA Chief Executive Officer Graeme Wood says: “We are thrilled that CSBP has chosen to increase their investment in Western Australian cricket by supporting the CSBP Regional Junior Cricket Program.

“The partnership will help CSBP Regional Cricket Officers to develop programs for youngsters looking to get into the game, while also providing a pathway for aspiring cricketers in rural areas to follow their dream of playing at the highest level possible.”

CSBP General Manager Fertilisers Darryl Dent said “CSBP continues to support communities throughout regional Western Australia and cricket is a key sport that needs to be encouraged from the ground up, to ensure rural youngsters have just as much chance to excel as their city counterparts.”
