Avon Valley Environmental Society wins CSBP Environment Award
The Avon Valley Environmental Society won the CSBP Environment Award as part of the 2011 Regional Achievement and Community Awards.
Avon Valley Environmental Society was announced as the CSBP Environment Award winner at the Regional Achievement and Community Awards gala event held on Friday 11 November at the Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre.
400 guests attended the gala event, including the Minister for Regional Development, the Hon. Brendan Grylls to celebrate the achievements of all the Award nominees and finalists from across regional and rural Western Australia.
Senior Environmental Advisor Mark Germain presented the CSBP Environment Award to the Avon Valley Environmental Society on behalf of the company and said he was delighted that the Award had gone to such a deserving winner.
“The Avon Valley Environmental Society is a group of volunteers who take up environmental challenges, research solutions, source funding and apply effective remediation strategies within their local community.
The Society has been involved in projects including starting a solar power co-operative, upgrading local walking tracks, developing a proposal for a cultural centre and commissioning a biological baseline study into water quality in the Northam swimming pool.
It’s wonderful to see a group so dedicated to managing environmental projects and mitigating environmental impacts within their local community,” says Mark.
