Ammonium nitrate prill (bulk bag for domestic/export markets)
Porous prill ammonium nitrate is the world's most common blasting agent.
At CSBP, almost all of the 520,000 tonnes of ammonium nitrate we produce every year is used in mines as a blasting agent.

Ammonium nitrate solution (ANsol)
ANsol is produced by reacting gaseous ammonia with concentrated nitric acid to form a clear, colourless liquid.
It is used to produce ammonium nitrate based emulsion products.

Nitric acid
In Australia, we use nitric acid to produce ammonium nitrate. Customers use nitric acid to produce organic and inorganic nitrates.
Nitric acid is a transparent, colourless to yellowish liquid which readily fumes. It’s a strong oxidising acid and is very corrosive. Commercial-grade nitric acid is typically 62% weight for weight.

Ammonia
Ammonia is an important raw material for industry and agriculture in Australia. It’s mainly used in the production of explosives, nitrogen-based fertilisers, sodium cyanide and, more recently, nickel mining in WA.
Ammonia is a toxic, colourless gas with a sharp odour. It can be condensed at -34ºC and turned into liquid under pressure. It’s also readily soluble in water – one part of ammonia will dissolve completely in 1.1 parts of water on a weight-for-weight basis.
